“Winning is nice,” Caitlin said after going through the rest of her notifications.

The group had left the cave and the glowing chest behind and was heading back to their safe room to pick up Crunch. Eternals respawned in dungeons much faster than they did elsewhere, so the Orc must already be back there, at the ‘reincarnation site’ as the locals called it. Rather than have the poor guy wander alone through the tunnels, they’d decided to meet up with him.

The non-Eternals in the group seemed almost excited to see someone come back from the dead, although Tranaxx, who had seen it firsthand a bunch of times, said it wasn’t all that impressive:

“Everything in the area gets a bit darker,” the Elementalist said. “And then the guy or gal just pops up. Screaming, usually, at least if you die violently.”

“I came back gasping for breath, but quietly,” Tilly said. “If I’d started screaming when I respawned, Coyote would have woken up and killed me again.”

“Yeah, that guy sounds like a total dick. I’m glad we didn’t run into him while we were in Tirazis.”

“I just hope we don’t run into him while we’re here.”

Caitlin nodded absently while she thought about her choices. A few minutes wasn’t a lot of time to decide whether to keep her powers or not. She checked her options as she walked. That wasn’t something she would have done before, but they were traveling
